Introducing Blaine Chiropractor Dr. Carrie Oswald, DC, NSCA:CPT

Chiropractic changed my life. When I was a freshman in college I was in a snow sledding accident. A friend of mine had slid directly into the top of my head. I heard a lot of cracking and was scared to death to move, not knowing if I would be able to. I eventually got up and felt fine. Soon after the accident I started having headaches. I never experienced headaches like this before and as time went on they progressively got worse. For about a year and half to two years, I suffered daily from excruciating headaches. I would take 8-10 ibuprofen everyday with essentially no relief and found myself sleeping all the time to avoid the pain. I finally called my mom one afternoon crying and told her I couldn’t handle the pain any longer. My boss at the time referred me to her chiropractor. I didn’t even know what a chiropractor was let alone how they were going to help me. I told my mom about this doctor and I how I thought he might be able to help me. My mom said, “Go, I don’t care how much it costs or what they do, just go if it’s going to help.” So I went and after two visits I was headache free! I was a different person in less than one week. I thought to myself, “How and why did I live like that for so long when there are people in this world who could help me?” I was intrigued by this profession immediately. It seemed to fit with my long term interest in health and working with people. I knew this was what I was meant to do. Chiropractic changed my life in an instant and I know it has the power to do the same for anyone.

Dr. Carrie Oswald

I received my degree in Exercise Science from the University of Minnesota – Duluth in 1998. I’ve been certified as a personal trainer through the National Strength & Conditioning Association since 1999. In 2003 I began my chiropractic journey at Northwestern Health Science University in Bloomington, Minnesota. I earned my doctorate of Chiropractic in 2006.

Scott and I were married in August of 2005. We have lived in the city of Blaine for over 4 years. When I am not working I love spending time with my family and friends. We are very fortunate to have most of our family members within a ten minute drive from our home. I also enjoy working out, snowboarding in the winter and golfing, mountain biking and rollerblading in the summer. Scott and I try to travel as much as we are able to. We both love to find new vacation spots. One of our favorites is Colorado in the winter. There’s nothing like skiing in the mountains. During the summer weekends we try to make it to Scott’s family cabin in Wisconsin as much as we can. It is so relaxing and peaceful. It’s a great place to re-energize.

I have always been someone who exercises. My weekly routine is to do 4-5 days of cardiovascular training and 3-4 days of weight training. I take a multi-vitamin, fish oil and calcium every morning and drink 2-3 liters of water every day. I generally get adjusted once a week but I never go longer than 2-3 weeks without an adjustment.

Thank you so much for taking the time to get to know us. Now let’s get to know you! We look forward to meeting you in person and learning how we can be of help to you and give you a powerful and positive chiropractic story of your own to share with others.

Dr. Oswald Asks some important questions of interest to Blaine residents - Chiropractor Blaine Dr. Oswald Asks...

Will chiropractic adjustments make my spine too loose?
No. Only the spinal joints that are fixated and "locked up" receive attention. The occasional spinal joint that moves too much is passed over so weakened muscles and ligaments can strengthen and heal.
How does headache medication find the headache?
It can't! Chiropractors know that when you ingest a drug and it enters your bloodstream it numbs or deadens your entire body. Chiropractic adjustments, on the other hand, are specific, targeted and delivered with precision.
